Disciplinary Policy of the Doyle School Community Center

The Board of Directors of the Doyle School Community Center adopted a formal disciplinary policy at their May 8, 2006 board meeting.

     A student/participant who violates the Doyle School Community Center rules shall be subject to disciplinary actions.  The DSCC disciplinary options will include using one or more discipline techniques including a verbal warning, conference, sent home for the day, and/or suspension.  The director or appointee depending on the nature of the offense will apply disciplinary measures.

     Assertive Discipline

     Assertive Discipline is a management system that teaches acceptable behavior using participant’s choices and consistent consequences.  The following assertive discipline shall be used in DSCC.

     Positive Consequences

1.    Establish individuals awards

2.    Establish group awards

3.    Acknowledge good behavior especially to those who are trying hard.  A little praise goes a long way.

Negative Consequences

1.    First Offense = Verbal Warning

2.    Second Offense = Conference with director or appointee.

3.    Third Offense = Sent home for the day.

Severe Clause

Violations of severe nature – fighting, inappropriate language, “put downs”, and

any infraction deemed severe by the director or appointee will result in

possible suspension from DSCC for a specific number of days.

 ·        This Discipline Management Policy was duly approved and adopted by the DSCC Board of Directors, May 2006.

A series of positive consequences will be developed and posted by the executive director. These may include:

1.    Awards of extra tickets for drawings prior to holidays;

2.    Preference on field trips and activities;

3.    Paid tickets to the swimming pool;

  1. Other incentive type awards.

The DSCC has had the assistance and support of many mentors, both adults and students. The link will take you to a Google Picasa website that is filled with pictures of SOME of the wonderful people who are mentors or students at the Doyle School Community Center: http://picasaweb.google.com/PatrickCass/DSCCMentors.
